Printing inks

Different types of inks for different printing methods

Mojoprint provides a wide range of printed material, produced with a multitude of different printing methods and inks.

Offset printing inks

Offset printing inks are oil based, with the oil derived from both petroleum and in some cases, sustainable vegetable oils including soy oil, rice bran oil, linseed oil, paulownia wood oil, coconut oil and palm tree oil. Our print partners use a combination of both types and we cannot guarantee one over the other for your job. There are four standard color offset inks used for commercial printing - cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK). Additional speciality and spot color inks are also used.

On-demand toner ink

On-demand printing uses toner ink much like you will find in an office laser printer. It is a fine dry powder (or liquid in some high-end presses like the HP Indigo) composed of plastic particles, pigment, and additives that is fused onto substrates (usually paper) using heat. In addition to the basic CMYK inks, speciality inks such as white and fluorescent toner can be used.

Inkjet inks

Water based inkjet inks

Standard aqueous inks used in most home and commercial inkjet printers.

Solvent inkjet inks

Used for dye-sublimation inkjet prints onto fabrics to make them color-fast and water resistant.

UV inkjet inks

UV-curable inks are used when printing onto non standard materials and surfaces, such as phone cases, panels and other use cases where durability and weather-proofing are required. Mostly used in large flat-bed printers.

Pigment inkjet inks

Pigment inks are used in high end 8-14 color large format inkjet machines to produce color-fast archival quality prints.

Silkscreen ink

Silkscreen uses a variety of inks to print on to paper and fabric, but the most widely used are plastisol inks that require curing/drying after printing. Water based inks can also be used.
